(Business 2.0) -- Focus intently on a narrow niche, ideally one whose audience has a predilection for high-margin products. That will appeal to advertisers.

Set up your blog so that each post gets its own permanent URL, or permalink, and its heading becomes part of its permalink and page title. Write descriptive, keyword-heavy headings, and be sure the homepage and all archives have links on every page.

Think of your blog as a database, not a newspaper-like collection of dispatches. Your archived posts should be easy to find through Google and Technorati, so cite authors and publications by name, and use tags, categories, and keywords consistently.

Blog frequently and regularly--if possible, at least half a dozen posts every weekday before lunchtime, when many readers take a break from work and check out the blogosphere.

Use striking images in your posts. They liven up the page and attract readers, and if you use captions, you'll gain additional traffic by making it easy for Google Image Search and other visual search engines to index your illustrations.

Enable comments and interact with readers; cultivate your audience--that's what advertisers will be paying you for.

Make friends with other bloggers, online and off. Link to their posts and they'll return the favor. Other blogs may well send you most of your traffic.

What did I do with my day?

What did I do today? Well, I haven't slept well in about 2 nights. I'm anticipating all the things I'll be getting to do as the weather warms up. Typically, in the deep south, winter ends early. I like that. yep. I get to disliking winter more and more the older I get. It rained all day. We welcome it especially now that we've suffered drought conditions for the past 118 years. I couldn't sleep later than 9:00 a.m., even tho I got to bed at dawn. The magnolia tree in the front yard of the big house is in full bloom with big purple and white flowers. We are lucky to see that because some years ice storms came and froze the buds on all the trees before they had their chance. That made me sad to see the magnolia's everywhere in years like that where there was ice storm after another freezing everything. No chance for the blooms to come forth. Today, I took things sort of easy and just read email and corresponded with friends. One of my friends that live close by has been real ill. I miss her a lot especially when we would talk on the phone every day and every evening. She's a real house cleaner and when she's not been sick, and goes from 4:00 a.m. until 7 in the evening. I'm not that crazy about housework. It can usually wait until it's really needed. Last night, all the laundry was done. It steamed up the windows with the dryer going at one point. I went outside in my bare feet today in the rain to check the mail... ---nothing great in there today in the mailbox. I tried to lay down a few times to see if I would fall asleep but no luck just chance to rest my eyes and enjoy the quiet. I took a hot bath. That was nice. I fed the betta fish, 'Bubz'. He's pretty cool in his little fishbowl with led light shining down on him through the peace lilly that he likes to hide in. He came out close to see me . Funny how much I wanted this little guy and how he makes me feel. I love how graceful he swims around. Neat. We had thunder that shook the house today for a while. This is tornado weather, too. The television seemed to be on all day bu the lights basically remained off. Save somewhere on this humongous electric bill that was $158.90 last month. Ridiculous how high the utilities costs have gotten. I sent my tax information to Sandy, so she could prepare my return, finally. Today was uneventful as most and on the quiet side. Thats how I rather like it tho most days, low key.

What will and can people do?

I'm not sure people have a voice that really speaks for them any more. The people I'm referring to are the 'underdogs'. There are many of us out there. Is anyone really listening??? It seems politics are full of deaf ears and unwilling hands. It's a strange thing to see so many like 'lambs going to the slaughter', without a protest at all. Gas prices get higher, everything else follows!! Gee, When things got bad after the Great Depression there was a president who made the 'New Deal'. Promises of a 'chicken in every pot'. Have people forgotten so easily??? Why aren't they showing how angry they are???!! Or aren't we at our breaking point yet? hmmmm... --- I, for one, am fighting mad!! I want our voice heard through all the rafters of every house or dwelling place. I want the bells in churches to ring, in alarm!! It's a disgrace and injustice to the American Dream!! All talk and no action! Jobs could be created in droves, if whoever is in high office, could see potential in creating jobs; that first, training people in converting to solar energy, and allowing competition in the workplace for developing more green buildings. Every new home and old should have solar. Wow. I can see that the political arena doesn't know how to feed and clothe their own before helping abroad. Look at what solar energy could do in this country if it was done on a large scale. America should be a model country! One others would envy enough to be more like us and not be how we are hated. My thoughts are shallow and not developed enough, so you see the whole picture as I see it. What do you think? Aren't people forgetting something... ?? We are slowly losing our freedoms. How does it feel to be on 'house arrest' with gas prices so high that 'you're now not free to move about the country.'???

More bad news... Foreclosures with everyone's pets being left behind, how low can a government stoop so low as to to continue to allow poverty happen right before their very eyes??? Change has to happen not when a new pres gets in; but right now!!
